A lecture titled “The Leader Guides, Shapes, Inspires” was given to the Cadets of the ΙΙΙ and ΙV Classes, on Thursday 10 January 2019, at the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in Vari – Attica.
The event which was organised by the Mobilisation Directorate (Α4) of the Hellenic Army General Staff, was conducted in the context of Cadets’ education, aiming at the same time for a different approach of the country’s reserves, using their experience to draw lessons and conduct brainstorming.
The event was conducted in the form of speeches and the speakers were Reserve Officers and Soldiers, as follows:
– Reserve Major (INF) Antonios Gambesis, free-lancer, speaking on the issue of “The Army through the eyes of a Reserve Officer”.
– Reserve Captain (MED) Athanasios Stamatelopoulos, Surgeon, Registrar B at the KAT Attica General Hospital and President of the Athens Reserve Officers Association, on the issue of “Hellenic Army – to give and to receive, the experiences of a late reserve of the Medical Corps”.
– Reserve NCO (ARMOUR) Ioannis Sevdalis, Director of Domestic Activities for INTRACOM DEFENCE ELECTRONICS, on the issue of “Military service as a qualification for the professional and personal aspects of life”.
– Reserve Soldier (ARTY) Athanasios Vomvylas, free-lancer, on the issue of “Advice given to new Officers by a reserve soldier”.
– Reserve Soldier (SIGN) Angelos Syrigos, Associate Professor of International Law and Foreign Policy at the Panteion University, on the issue of “Military service as a stepping stone to academic career”.
The future leaders of the Army had the opportunity, through this activity, to come into contact with the Reserve Officers and Soldiers, who in the course of time have distinguished themselves professionally and socially, in the fields of their respective occupations.
Especially through the narration of the distinguished speakers, the Cadets were able to comprehend the effect and the results of new Officers’ leadership on the Reserves and how much these results affected their civilian lives.
