On Monday 24 February 2025, in the presence of Chief/Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, events for the celebration of the 112th Anniversary of the Liberation of Konitsa took place.
The events, among others, included a Divine Liturgy at the Pilgrimage Church of St. Cosmas Aetolos, a Memorial Service at the Heroes Monument at the spot of “Ai Giannis”, where wreaths were laid, and a parade that followed in the town of Konitsa.
The celebrations were attended by MP for Ioannina Mr Georgios Amyras, as representative of the Speaker of the Parliament, representatives of the Parliamentary Parties, the Mayor of Konitsa Mr Andreas Papaspyrou, the Honorary Chief/Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Konstantinos Floros (ret.), the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “ALEXANDER THE GREAT”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, Local Self-government representatives, active and retired Armed Forces and Security Forces Officers, and other guests.
